Sum Tips You Need To Know When Looking For Loc Jewelry

Tip #1   Locs jewelry are a great way to dressing up your beautiful locs, so when shopping for loc jewelry or wheather you’re making it your self, you might want to keep a few things in mind to prevent you from damaging your locs.

Tip #2 Sum   loc jewelry requires you to sew them in, while others require you to entwine into your locs.  Cautious, if your locs are not mature, then I suggest that you wait for them to mature because they can get buried in and a lot of pulling can cause locs to stress out and cause the process nor to mature properly.  Instead, if your locs are not mature, you can use the cuff loc jewelry as long you do not force it in the loc.  It should go on nice and easy.

Tip #3  It’s ok to shampoo your locs while the loc jewelry is in, so cleaning the jewelry while it’s still on your locs is a great thing, especially if the loc jewelry is sewn in your locs.

Tip #4 Loc jewelry made of copper, sterling silver  is great for your locs, because they will not fade, so if you happen you love sum loc jewelry made of copper or sterling seliver then by all means go right ahead and purchase.

Tips #5 I say this over and over again. Size matters a whole lot, so when you purchase loc jewelry, you want to make sure you are buying the correct size for your locs.  There is a big difference between the size of tiny Sisterlocks and large traditional dreadlocks.  There is a difference between two women with Sisterlocks and two women with traditional dreadlocks.

When purchasing a cuff loc, check with the creator to see if the loc cuff comes in different sizes.  If there is a one size fits all rules.  Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t fit your locs.  Some loc jewelry comes with sizing options, while others are able to bended or stretched to fit your locs.  Just be sure to do your homework before you make a purchase and ask as many questions possible.  Don’t forget the Cowry Shells, they also make a great statement, some loc wearers put in each shell base on the number of years they had there locs, so go right on ahead and make that statement.

Tip #6  I want you to enjoy your locs jewelry just as much as you wearing those locs, so check out my website to see if you see something that will catch your style, so don’t be afraid to rock those locs with jewelry.  My website is  Msladylocks.etsy.com

LOC 411 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKES TO LOC HAIR?
This process can take anywhere from eight months to one year to complete.  The straighter the texture the longer the process will take to loc.  The kinkier the texture the quicker the hair will loc.  It is also helpful if you start with at least 2 inches of hair (you can start shorter if your hair is very kinky) because this will allow the twists to hold through sleeping and shampooing.

CAN HAIR THAT’S BEEN PREVIOUSLY RELAXED BE LOCED?
Today there are many different ways to loc hair.  By all means, you can loc your hair even if its relaxed by using the re-tightening method with Msladylock Re-Tightening Tool at (Msladylocks.etsy.com), or with an latch hook.  Your relaxed hair must me at least 4 inches or longer to start this process, but the end results are great once its loced.

DURING THE PROCESS OF LOCING, IS IT EASY TO MAINTAIN YOUR LOCS?

This is not a yes or no question.  The process is as easy as your hair is kinky.  The straighter your hair the more maintenance it may require, so don’t fret at all. First it requires patience.  Ideally once your hair is twisted, you are to do nothing more than oil your scalp as needed and cover it nightly with a silk scarf or do-rag.  When showering and working out.

CAN PERMANENTLY COLORING YOUR LOCS BE DAMAGING TO THE HAIR?

I always recommend that you go to a professional to have your hair permanently colored. This is a chemical process and can be damaging to our hair if not done properly, so it’s best to get professional advice.
If you like to color your locs the natural way, try squeezing a few drops of real lemon on your locs and rub the juice into the locs, then go out in the sun, for a few minutes at a time, then rinse it out, great lightening results plus vitamin D for you.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I TWIST MY LOCS?

If you overly twist your locs, it will cause weakness.  I would recommend palm rolling, and I would not recommend doing it any more than once every two to four weeks.  I really emphasize the process of letting your hair grow, because if you overly twist it, it will then out and eventually break off.

EAT RIGHT!

Products aid and enhance our locs, but it’s really the process that we go through in terms of healthy lifestyle that radiates to our locs.  I encourage people with natural hair to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Drink enough water, keep the hair clean, take vitamins, and eat green leafy vegetables.  Because you’re inner is a reflection of your outer.

DOES CONDITION MATTERS?

Every single time you shampoo and condition your locs.  If your locs are color treated,  I would put an additional protein deep conditioner on your locs, to avoid breakage, dryness. I would also cover it up with a plastic cap and sit under the dryer for fifteen to thirty minutes for best results.

BEAUTIFUL LOCS at GREAT LENGTH

Locs today are well groomed, coiffed and runway ready. If you have locs or are thinking about locing your hair, here are some tips that can help you to keep your locs looking there best.

1. If you are thinking about locing your hair but not quite sure how to go about it, then set up an appointment with a professional loctician.
2. If your hair is completely loced, the keys to a beautiful look are keeping them well clean, healthy and moisturized. Locs are often very dry, especially mature locs and during the summer months, so moisturized, moisturized, moisturized.
3. When shampooing your locs massage the scalp and cleanse the ends very well. To cleanse the ends, get a good grip on the ends with both hands. Carefully cleanse as thought you are washing clothes on a wash board. This process will ensure clean hair that is free of pollutants, dust and residues.
4. To keep locs healthy, deep condition them on a regular basis using a protein conditioner.
5. To give the locs a healthy glow massage oil through the scalp and hair.
6. I have to stress this all the time. Please wear a silk scarf by wrapping your locs. By doing this it will lock in the moisture keeping your locs from getting dry.

NOW YOU’RE READY TO ROCK THOSE LOCS WITH STYLE

LOC APPRECIATION DAY 2011

Bold, Beautiful, and quite exciting - Locs. Locs are more than a hairstyle sporting hair that is permanently mashed together. Locs are as unique as the individual who wears them! Locs are beautiful, the one style that if you choose not to brush, twist, curl or crimp you are still stylishly hot. When we look at locs we must remember that they are not only a style but from some, part of a lifestyle.

The locing process can take anywhere from eight months to one year to complete, so whatever your reasons are for locing, they are still one of God’s natural blessings, with many options. You can groom, curl and even crimp locs, so on this special loc appreciation day, I would like to welcome all who took the time to decide to loc there hair. This is a time to look back at the beginning from when you first started to now and recap those special times by embracing your Natural Locs.
